It was a long, ugly road to get to this point, but with MLB and the MLBPA agreeing to a new CBA the lockout is over for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the rest of baseball
Getting to this point was not easy. It was a long, windy and very, very ugly road. However, the moment fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the rest of Major League Baseball has been waiting for is finally here.
MLB and MLBPA has agreed upon a new CBA. With this one of the darkest, saddest periods in the history of Major League Baseball has come to an end. Ladies and gentlemen baseball is finally back!
BREAKING: Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor deal, sources tell ESPN. While it still needs to be ratified by both parties, that is expected to be a formality, and when it is:
Baseball is back.

For all the pain of the 99-day lockout, all the false narratives of the MLBPA being compromised by individual agents, all the teeth-gnashing about owners not moving on the CBT, baseball came together and rescued itself from the precipice of doom.
And for that, we are thankful.

With the new CBA players will report to spring training starting tomorrow. Opening Day is now reportedly slated for April 7th. MLB will still play a full 162 game season with the use of planned doubleheaders throughout the season and an extra series at the end of the season.
Starting tonight free agency should start to get wild across baseball. There are still plenty of players who need to find new homes, as well as teams who will be looking to fill out their roster spots. Trades and extensions could steal plenty of headlines in the coming 48-72 hours as well.
With the new CBA baseball will now have the universal designated hitter. The postseason will expand to 12 teams, the pre-arbitration bonus pool has grown to $50 million, and a 6-pick draft lottery. The CBT will be $230 million in 2022, rising annually to $233 million, $237 million, $241 million, $244 million.
