The Wings concluded their 2021-22 NHL regular season on Friday with a 5-3 win at the New Jersey Devils. However, with a 32-40-10 record, the team missed the playoffs for the sixth successive season. Blashill has been the head coach for all six of those seasons.
He took over as bench boss in 2015. Blashill was 204-261-72 behind the Detroit bench.
