SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. – Are you worried about potential toxins in the shellfish you harvest? There’s a map for that.
The Washington State Department of Health has updated its Shellfish Safety map for summer shellfish harvesting.
The map will show beaches where biotoxins have been found that cause Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning, or PSP.
PSP begins as a tingling sensation in the lips and can cause life-threatening respiratory system paralysis.
You can find a link to the beach closure map on Department of Health’s website.
