BREAKING NEWS: Former Wisconsin judge ‘killed by a militia member at his home’ – Daily Mail

A 68-year-old man has been shot and killed at a home believed to belong to a former judge in rural Wisconsin, by a man with a hit list.

The 68-year-old man, described by law enforcement as the homeowner, was killed in New Lisbon, 70 miles northwest of the state capital, Madison.

Police were called to the property at 6:30am after another person fled the home, and reported hearing two gunshots.

Negotiators then attempted to talk to a person inside, but entered the property at 10:17am and found one man people dead – the 68-year-old.

A 56-year-old was found in the basement with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and was treated at the house before being taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

‘There were two individuals found inside the property, one was deceased, and one had a self-inflicted gunshot wound,’ said Attorney General Josh Kaul.

He said there was a list of targets, and those on the list had been warned.

The dead man was on the list, and local journalist John Mercure reported that Governor Tony Evers was also on the list.

‘The individual who is the suspect appears to have had other targets as well that appear to be related to the judicial system,’ Kaul said.

‘At this point, we are not aware of any evidence indicating that there is any active danger to other individuals. Those who may have been other targets have been notified of that.’

Kaul said a caller early on Friday said there was ‘an armed person, and two shots fired’.

He added: ‘I can’t provide further information about the caller. The caller exited the home, and called law enforcement from a nearby home.’

Police were stationed in the area from 7:30am on Friday, Channel3000 reported.

Kaul was asked about others on the ‘hit list’.

‘I can’t speak to what any individuals or their protection details are doing,’ Kaul said.

‘But what I can say is that we have been in touch with those on the list, and are working to protect their security.’

He said law enforcement secured the scene, and there was no danger to the public.
